Agenda Item 1
Markel Insurance has been approached by President Paul Gloves for funding.
The funding would be used for training, in particular at the local club level. People are too busy at the International Rally to use up the time required for proper training. He is also looking for small rallies where the training could take place. In addition, we could develop safety training programs for clubs to use during the non-riding season. Markel is interested in promoting safe riding and increasing their profile through their affiliation with these initiatives. Some program suggestions were to use MSF instructors as facilitators for the ‘Seasoned Rider Training’ or ‘ERC’ or ‘Accident Scene Management’.
Clark Luster cautioned that we need to insure the Foundation receives credit for these initiatives.
Ray Zimmerman passed around copies of the course outline for the ‘Seasoned Rider’ program.
Mark Austin suggested combining a local BMW club with a local Gold Wing club as an example.
Jean Copas suggested the training formats be portable to outside the USA.
Roger Wiles opined that the ‘Seasoned Rider’ is a fun program.
Emerson Goodwin proposed that the Foundation subsidize clubs for the number of members who attend and the payment is made on completion of the course. We can export this to other brands.
Roger said it was important to reach out to all riders.
Motion: |
Need three members of the Board to work with Markel Insurance and Ray Zimmerman. |
| Proposed: Paul Glaves | |
| Seconded: Randy Hone |
Motion carried.
Emerson Goodwin volunteered for first position.
Randy Hone recommended we approach other insurers to fund other programs.
Agenda Item 2
Brad Benn discussed the various aspects of using greeting cards for fund raising for the Foundation. He needs help with some of the aspects. Vince Winkle has offered to put him in touch with some vendors and Ray Zimmerman advised they could be sold through the Country Store. Brad needs to have the pictures sent to someone for vetting and Eric Simon volunteered to take that responsibility. Eric also suggested perhaps the pictures could be posted on a web page where Board members could vote on the pictures.
Motion: |
Developing greeting cards for fund raising. |
| Proposed: Paul Glaves | |
| Seconded: Bradford Benn |
Motion carried.
Board agreed to pursue this initiative.
Agenda Item 3
Camp Gears. Voni Glaves provided a report on this year’s participants and brought a sample of a tee shirt designed by one of the participants. It shows two images: the first is a ‘squid’ in shorts, sandals and tee changing into a fully suited ‘ATGATT’ (all the gear, all the time) rider through Camp Gears training. Voni suggested the Foundation could sell the shirts. A discussion ensued regarding the Foundation logo. Randy displayed a working model of a new logo based on the image of a pillared building with a motorcycle incorporated in the design.
Motion: |
Change Logo |
| Proposed: Randy Hone | |
| Seconded: Clark Luster |
Motion carried.
Randy will continue working on new logo.
Motion: |
Adopt Camp Gears tee shirts for sale |
| Proposed: Bradford Benn | |
| Seconded: Paul Glaves |
Motion carried.
Agenda Item 4
Clark Luster suggested it is time for us to have professional expertise in the area of fund raising. We should ask the MOA for the resources to accomplish this goal. Perhaps it is time to hire a person who would be charged with this responsibility. Eric Simon volunteered to put together a package for estate planning purposes.
