The BMW MOA Foundation hosted Camp GEARS (Gaining Early Advanced Riding Skills) on Tuesday, July 18 and Wednesday, July 19 – the two days immediately preceding the BMW MOA International Rally in Vermont. Camp GEARS is designed to provide an opportunity for young riders to meet and interact each other in a fun, educational, motorcycle oriented environment regardless of the brand of motorcycle they ride and their experience level.

Camp GEARS is open to licensed motorcycle riders ages 16 through 26. In an effort to introduce people to the joys of riding, there is no charge to attend Camp GEARS, Attendees are also the Foundation's guest at the BMW MOA International Rally

During the two-day camp riders took part in sessions on several topics important to motorcycle enthusiasts. These topics include:

  • Knowing and Understanding Your Motorcycle
  • Basic Mechanics
  • Pre-Ride Inspections
  • Roadside Repairs
  • Touring in Comfort and Style
    • Riding Gear
    • Riding Equipment
  • Loading and Packing
  • Motorcycle Camping
  • Trip Planning
    • Maps
    • Computer Mapping
    • GPS Equipment
  • Group Riding
  • Motorcycling and Weather
  • Virtual Campfires and Web Resources
